Nagaland Scholarship 2026-27 List: Registration, Eligibility, Process

0

Nagaland has moved much of its scholarship administration into a clearer digital system for 2026-27. The Common Scholarship Portal of the Government of Nagaland now serves as the main platform for several state schemes, while centrally sponsored and national programmes continue to use the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). This distinction matters because the State Merit Scholarship, State Research Scholarship, State Disability Scholarship and State Medical Scholarship can currently be accessed through the Nagaland portal, whereas schemes such as Post-Matric ST, Ishan Uday and national postgraduate scholarships use NSP.

For students, the advantage of the 2026-27 system is that application dates and scheme status can be checked in one place before a form is started. As of September 2026, four state scholarships are actively accepting applications on the Common Scholarship Portal. At the same time, Post-Matric ST applications are running on NSP with a separate September deadline. The list below explains the major options, their eligibility and the correct registration process.

State Merit Scholarship Eligibility

The Nagaland State Merit Scholarship is intended mainly for indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland pursuing post-matric studies in recognised institutions. Fresh entry is normally allowed only in the first year of the course, with a special provision for eligible engineering students entering the second year through lateral entry after diploma.

Present CourseKey Fresh-Entry Academic Requirement
Class XI / Diploma 1st YearMinimum 80% in Class 10
Bachelor’s Degree 1st YearMinimum 80% in Class 12
Engineering Degree 2nd Year – Lateral EntryMinimum 80% in Diploma
B.Ed. 1st YearMinimum 70% in Graduation
PG 1st YearMinimum 70% at Bachelor/Graduation level

Non-indigenous residents who are permanently settled in Nagaland may be considered in a limited situation when they secure a top position in a Nagaland board or university and satisfy the documentary requirements. Renewal is meant for previous beneficiaries who continue to meet the scholarship conditions.

State Research Scholarship Eligibility

  • The applicant should be an indigenous inhabitant of Nagaland.
  • The student should be pursuing a Ph.D. programme in a recognised institution.
  • Fresh entry is intended for students in the first year of the research programme.
  • The applicant must submit the research and academic documents required by the scheme and complete portal verification.

Post-Matric ST Scholarship Eligibility

  • The applicant must belong to a Scheduled Tribe of Nagaland.
  • The student should be studying in Class XI or above in an eligible recognised course.
  • Annual parental/family income from all sources should not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh.
  • The application is submitted through NSP, not through the Nagaland State Merit form.
  • Renewal students must satisfy the continuation requirements and complete institute verification.

State Disability and State Medical Scholarships

The State Disability Scholarship is hosted by the Social Welfare Department and is currently open for students in Classes I to VIII through November 30, 2026. Applicants should follow the disability and student-document requirements shown in the live scheme guideline. The State Medical Scholarship is for eligible state-nominated medical students and is open from September 16 to October 15, 2026. Because these schemes serve very different groups, students should not choose them merely because they appear as active options on the portal.

Documents Commonly Required

  • Aadhaar card and Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
  • DigiLocker account for identity authentication on the Nagaland Common Scholarship Portal.
  • Indigenous inhabitant/tribe or permanent resident documents as applicable to the scheme.
  • Current admission, course and institution details.
  • Previous qualifying marksheets and certificates.
  • Income certificate for schemes that impose an income ceiling.
  • Bank account details with Aadhaar seeding for DBT.
  • Disability certificate, medical nomination documents, research documents or other scheme-specific records where applicable.

How to Register on the Nagaland Common Scholarship Portal

  1. Create an account: Use the Register option and an Aadhaar-linked mobile number. Verify the OTP and set the applicant password.
  2. Complete the applicant profile: Enter personal, address and academic details accurately.
  3. Verify through DigiLocker: Complete Aadhaar authentication and allow the required document sharing so the portal can validate identity information.
  4. Select the scholarship and course: Choose the correct scheme, fresh/renewal category, institution and present course.
  5. Fill scheme-specific information: Provide admission date, fee details, marks, residency or other data requested for that scholarship.
  6. Upload documents and preview: Check every document and field before final submission. A submitted form is locked unless it is formally returned/rejected for correction.
  7. Track the application: Use the dashboard to follow status changes such as Submitted, Under Process, Verified, Rejected or Approved.

How to Apply for Nagaland Scholarships on NSP

For Post-Matric ST, Ishan Uday, National Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies, NEC renewal and other national schemes, students should use scholarships.gov.in. One Time Registration is mandatory. After logging in with OTR, select academic year 2026-27, choose the correct scheme, complete the form and follow institute and state-level verification. Do not try to submit the same central scheme through the Nagaland state portal unless the official scheme page specifically says it is hosted there.

Important Application Checks

  • Use the same name and date of birth as Aadhaar during registration.
  • Only one bank account can be Aadhaar-seeded for receiving payment through the NPCI Aadhaar Payment Bridge at a time.
  • Review the scheme guideline before submitting because eligibility differs even when two scholarships are both labelled “post-matric”.
  • Do not wait until the last day, especially for State Medical and Post-Matric ST applications, because their closing dates are earlier than some other schemes.
  • If a state scheme is marked inactive on the portal, do not use an old-year form unless a new notification reopens it.

Nagaland Scholarship 2026-27 FAQs

Q. Can a student apply for more than one scholarship on the Nagaland Common Scholarship Portal?

The portal states that an applicant can apply for only one scholarship at a time on the state platform. Students should compare eligibility before choosing a scheme.

Q. What happens if I notice a mistake after final submission?

The Common Scholarship Portal does not allow normal editing after submission. Corrections become possible only if the application is formally returned or rejected in a way that permits resubmission.

Q. Why is DigiLocker required for Nagaland scholarship registration?

The portal uses DigiLocker for Aadhaar-based identity verification and for secure document sharing. Applicants should therefore set up DigiLocker before beginning the state scholarship form.

Q. Who should be contacted for an eligibility problem rather than a portal error?

Scheme and eligibility questions are handled by the relevant departmental nodal officer. The portal technical helpdesk is intended mainly for account, access and technical issues.
